Bespoke Drywall has won Gold in the Ceiling category at the 2016 Finishes and Interiors Sector (FIS) Contractors Awards for their work on the World Duty Free retail outlet at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 5.
Bespoke Drywall scooped the ultimate industry award at the FIS Contractors Awards, hosted during the FIS Presidents Lunch at London’s iconic Dorchester Hotel in the presence of business leaders from across the finishes and interiors sector.
Bespoke Drywall handled the installations of ceilings during the construction of an expanded retail complex at Heathrow Airport’s World Duty Free outlet in Terminal 5.
Some 2,000m² of MF ceilings were installed, along with suspended ceilings, bulkheads and rafts in World Duty Free which included branded concessions for Chanel, Gucci and L’Oreal and new remote store fit-outs for the Queen’s grocer Fortnum & Mason, Watches of Switzerland and Rolex.
The judges said: “In spite of testing conditions, Bespoke delivered a top-class ceiling befitting of the brands. Works had to be carefully sequenced to ensure teams and materials arrived in a coordinated way. Bespoke could only work on areas as they became available, so work had to be completed in phases – somewhat challenging given the high degree of continuous curved drywall required.”
Mark Grocock, Bespoke’s managing director, said: “The World Duty Free retail store is an impressive facility at the heart of Terminal 5 and the scope of work reflected the luxury and exclusivity of the wider development. We are delighted that we impressed the judges with the high standard of our team’s workmanship and we are proud to have gone one step further to be awarded a Gold prize.”
“We would also like to thank our contractor client ‘The Alan Nuttall Partnership’ for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate our abilities in a premier location that is used by millions of people every year”
